Hey everyone, today we’re going to share some important moderation updates to the rules and punishments that we’ve been working on and will be releasing soon. On top of that, we’d like to share with you the lore roadmap up until the end of the year, and talk about some recent internal reworks the lore team has been focusing on.
Recently we’ve been trying to make a greater effort at being more transparent on some of the internal workings of the server and our staff team, such as the financial analysis document shared in a recent Discord announcement being part of these efforts, and so this news post comes as such!
Moderation Updates
Our administration and moderation teams have been working together on some much needed changes; a massive overhaul to the rules and punishments that’ll be coming out in the next week or so.
There's lots to go over, continue reading to find out more about these Moderation Updates!
Overhauled Rules
Lead by Bones and with significant contributions from the Moderation and Administration teams, this is a project that we started at the beginning of June, you may have seen it be talked about publicly in suggestions, in-game and the old roadmap channel. We aimed to have it completed at the end of June, but we’re past that date now — that’s because we ended up reworking a lot more than initially thought. Almost every existing rule has been modified to include more clarity, better wording or made to be more leniant/strict depending on the rule. Some rules have also been removed, and many new rules have been added as well.
The rules overhaul isn’t out yet, but we aim to release it in the next week. Until then, you’ll need to continue adhering to the current rules.
Many of these changes were sparked from both player suggestions and staff ideas, as well as long discussions players have had in suggestions! Some of the suggestions we’ve referenced while overhauling the rules are:
- More Build Restrictions/Rules.
- Allow seafolks tails.
- VillainRP - CrimeRP.
- War & Raid Rules.
- …many other suggestions and discussions were referenced as well.
Here’s an overview of all the different sections and sub-sections featured in the rules overhaul. You’ll recognise some, while others are entirely new. Click the box below to expand.

In order to make reading and sharing the rules much easier, we’ve added a new category to the Library on our website called Rule Books. Each rule section will have its own page in this new category, so you don’t need to scroll up and down a ton.
Punishments Overhaul
With the new rules, comes an overhaul to our punishments. When looking at how we wanted to overhaul the punishments, there were two priorities; to ensure punishment reasons are more clearly defined and to ensure new rules, and changes to existing ones have punishments related to them.
The punishments overhaul isn’t out yet, but we aim to release it in the next week.
We understand many players in the past have expressed frustration in not properly understanding what they were punished for — e.g. if you were to break a DNI against someone, you’d be punished for Harassment which is an extremely broad reason and in turn would point you to harassment rules and so this doesn’t give you a clear idea that you were actually banned for breaking a DNI. This is not what we want, the punishment reasons should be specific enough that you know what happened.
When the punishment overhaul is released, breaking a DNI will result in a punishment that actually says you broke a DNI, and similarly, many other new types of punishments were added (e.g. Xray has its own punishment now). We’ve gone from previously having 14 types of punishments to having 36 punishments, each with outlined reasons for what the punishment is and a reference to which rules were broken.
Punishments come with offenses too, repeat offenders will receive increased punishments until, in some cases, it becomes a permanent ban.
Player Punish History & Discord Notifications
Two changes that the community has highly requested for a long time now are a way to view your entire punishment history (as you can already view warn history, but not ban history), and to be notified on Discord when you receive a punishment.
We aim for both of these features to be released alongside the rule and punishment overhauls, but there’s a chance development gets delayed a week or two.
Player Punish History
We’re developing a mechanic that’ll let you view your temporary ban and warn history directly in game. A command will be typed to open a menu and you’ll be presented with two buttons; Ban History and Warn History.
The Ban History button will open a menu showing all your expired temporary bans. The Warn History button opens another menu with your active warns, and you can press another button to view your expired warns.

Each ban and warn that shows up will display important info on that punishment, such as:
- Date Issued
- Date Expired
- Punish Duration
- Punish Reason
- Reference to Rules Broken
Discord Punish Notifications
If you’ve linked your Discord and Minecraft accounts together on the server, you’ll receive a notification from our bot when you get banned or warned.
This is a feature that was suggested by players last year and was also accepted, but it took way longer than it needed to for it to be implemented — for that we are sorry. We’ve finally added it now!

The Player Punish History will help with viewing your past punishments and active warns, but it won’t be so helpful for when you’re punished but aren’t online at the time; like receiving a 12 hour temporary ban when you’re offline and not logging in for another 12 hours, never seeing your punishment.
Discord punish notifications will solve this, and furthermore allow you to stay informed on your punishments in general.
This feature will only work if you’ve linked your Discord account with your Minecraft account on the server, you can do that by typing /link. The Discord punish notifications will be enabled by default for all linked players, but we will provide a command to toggle it off and on.
Lore Roadmap
We’re really happy to share that we’ve made an official lore roadmap for TallTalesRP that covers eventlines, storylines, major events & stories and lore features until the end of 2025. Before we get into it though, we want to open up on some internal lore team reworks that have been going on behind the scenes!
The lore roadmap can be seen at the very end of this news post. Considering it contains major lore spoilers for what’s ahead, we decided to put it at the end!
Internal Lore Team Reworks
Over the past few weeks, the lore team has been working hard toward several lore team reworks that aim to improve the workflow of the team and the transparency between players and lore members. We want to open up about what some of these reworks entail and so our amazing lore head, Elle, has prepped a write up of some of the reworks! While we can’t share everything just yet, we hope that this helps give some insight into what’s changing and what’ll be happening moving forward!
Active Projects & Project Management
Currently, the Lore Team is managing many active projects of varying scales, not including the numerous tickets that are processed regularly. From large storylines to small but impactful system tweaks, we’re balancing a lot at once while keeping our eyes on quality.
To combat burnout and improve our quality, we’ve shifted our focus to fewer projects at a time, so now we are actively managing about five active projects. This approach ensures that each release you see from us is thoughtful, refined, and worth the wait, rather than rushed out of necessity.
Bi-weekly Changelog
To keep you informed, we’ll now be publishing a bi-weekly changelog. These updates will give players a clear look at what we’re working on actively, whether that’s major eventline progress or smaller fixes you might not otherwise notice. Expect regular transparency, so you’re never left wondering what’s happening behind the scenes.
Roster & Sub-Departments
Many players may not realize that the Lore Team has a set structure! We’re organized into sub-departments, each led by senior lore members who specialize in different aspects of storytelling and systems. Click the box below to expand.
Breakdown of sub-departments
- Lux & Envoy – Worldbuilding Department
- Ensures that canon lore remains consistent, cohesive, and free of contradictions. They’re the guardians of the setting’s foundation, ensuring that new additions feel seemless and contains no plot holes.
- Inicio – Questing Department
- Oversees the creation and approval of quests, dungeons, and any other features related to that. This department makes sure your adventures feel meaningful, balanced, and connected to the wider world.
- Elle & Peyton – Faction & Nation Lore Department
- Works directly with nations and factions to shape their lore, providing tools that allow groups to flourish without constant lore team presence, while still tying them into the broader world.
- Cloud & Bones – Internal Systems Department
- Focused on improving player-facing systems and ensuring voices are heard. They refine processes, iron out kinks, and help us function smoothly both behind the scenes and with the community.
- Mono & Dark – CRP & Ticket Department
- Specialise in combat roleplay and ticketing systems. They approve CRP changes and streamline ticket management to improve efficiency and fairness.
- Sym, New World, & Wulffy – General Support
- Though not tied to one department, these team members lend their wide expertise wherever needed, providing balance and flexibility across all areas of lore work.
Lore Applications
We know many of you have been waiting for the chance to join the Lore Team and we’re happy to announce that applications will be reopening in the next few days!
Alongside this, we’ve fully reworked our application questions. The goal is to make them more engaging, more reflective of what the team does, and better at highlighting creativity, collaboration, and world-building skills. If you have applied with the previous application please do so again in this one as we will only be looking at most recent applicants!
Developing for Lore
Previously, our development cycles (design, development, testing, release) would be heavily tailored for a Server Roadmap and SMP mechanics. We’ve heard your feedback, and we will focus less on SMP mechanics and more on developing for lore and roleplay first.
SMP mechanics/features that we continue to maintain in the way they’re currently made will only happen if the SMP mechanic adds to the roleplay experience. For example, Carpentry is an SMP driven feature with light grinding but it helps provide furniture which enhances roleplay builds and can be used to roleplay a carpenter profession and such.
Lore Roadmap
Warning: this section of the news post contains heavy spoilers for future lore storylines and eventlines. If you do not wish to have names and descriptions revealed before specific lore starts, don’t continue reading!
The roadmap is split into two key parts; the lore projects and the lore features.
Lore projects consist of eventlines (one-off, in-the-moment official lore), storylines (branching, continuous official narratives) and major event/storylines (major official events & stories combined spanning multiple weeks).
Lore features are the smaller enhancements to the roleplay experience and minor expansions on lore. An example of a lore feature is the official wiki we’re working on at the moment.
With that being said, here’s the official TallTalesRP roadmap (major spoilers):

Thank you so much for reading!
