Epic of Kaelar

Written by: Faldor Rumis

The mighty Kingdom of Verinth was not always a kingdom. At its beginning, it was originally a military base for the Kingdom of Alteris. It was used as a defensive structure, using the trees that surround the base as cover. As it expanded, it housed and fed many soldiers during wartime, more specifically during the war of the Earth Crystal.

After the war ended, there was a small moment of peace throughout the continent of Eldorath. Rumors began to circulate around the fort that it was going to be destroyed and replaced with a new settlement, then relocated elsewhere. The higher-ups in Alteris wanted to expand and take over new land, but the problem was that they wanted to start with land already taken. During peacetime, they believed it was the perfect time to do so, as not many soldiers would be living there at the time.

Though this is what they believed, it could not be further from the truth. In reality, many soldiers still lived in this fortress, and in fact enjoyed their time away from Alteris. They agreed it was a great place for a new settlement, but they didn’t want to see their current home destroyed.

That was when a notable warrior named Kaelar stepped up to the plate. He pleaded with Alteris for a meeting, and there, he brought the soldier’s thoughts to life. After a long and tough back-and-forth between him and all of Alteris’ government, they finally agreed. Kaelar would soon turn their fort into a brand new nation.

Alteris only had a few requests. Verinth would become a petty kingdom, controlled entirely by Alteris. It was still going to follow Alteris’ laws and demands, and is was still going to worship Gaia through and through. Kaelar accepted this agreement, and went on his way to spread the news, turn it into a proper nation, and rule as its first King.

The fortress itself was turned into a castle. Then, it began to expand outwards, making new homes and marketplaces for citizens of Verinth to own. Many of those citizens being soldiers, of course. This led to a long line of many skilled fighters that would reside just within this kingdom. They would even form their own army, separate from Alteris, so that they could fight their own smaller-scaled battles. Though of course, Alteris was their main ally.

The Kingdom of Verinth still remains strong to this day. I, Faldor Rumis, am a descendant of Kaelar the Great. I will soon become a King of his incredible kingdom. I shall take an oath to hold my title with honor, and to become a ruler Kaelar would be proud of.

Then, someone shall write my history book the same.
