S.I: Lore Items

To invent something, you’ll need approval from the lore team beforehand. You cannot make something and then ask if it can be approved; you must get approval first. You’ll often be conversing about how the invention works inside the ticket.

If your invention was approved, congratulations! The next step is formulating what materials, or “mats,” will be expended to make it. Remember, these materials must make sense if you’re using them to build an invention.

The bigger the invention, the more materials will be needed. You cannot, for example, make a sword and only use three iron ingots. A lore team member will approve the required materials; if they still need to, they will add or remove them from the necessary materials.

To make your invention in roleplay and for us to be able to sign and approve it, you will need to show us emotes on how you’re making such a thing. Emotes are expected to be two paragraphs long, related to the invention, and show much detail. Simple actions like “puts bolt in wood” will not be accepted; you must flesh out the entirety of the crafting process.

You are in charge of your own names and descriptions! We will occasionally help you with a description or name for your item if needed, but you are nearly entirely in charge of them.

Descriptions of items must be descriptive. They need to be so that anyone who touches the invention will know how it works, what it looks like, what it feels like, and maybe even what it tastes like!

Lastly, send the lore team member a screenshot of the item’s description and name. This helps us a bunch, as it saves us a load of time in logging the item's creation. Then, send over the screenshots of your emotes. This should all be sent over in the same ticket.

S.II: What is and isn't allowed

What's not allowed

  • Complex machinery
    • This category includes trains, cars, electronics, and elevators (bubble elevators are allowed)
    • Steampunk mechanics as a whole are disallowed, but the aesthetic is okay. If you are unsure about something, open up a general lore ticket!
      • Mechanical limbs that replace actual limbs are an entirely different story. Again, please open an item ticket regarding this
  • Guns or any type of instant-firing crossbow/bow
  • Cannons, missiles, nukes
  • Explosives (e.g. molotov cocktails, C-4’s, TNT, grenades, etc.)
  • Non-signed books and quills
  • Modern-day technology
  • Most, if not all, technology made in the 1900s to the present day
    • This does not mean everything before the provided dates will be accepted.
    • This goes for every other brand-new invention that doesn’t correlate well with server lore.
    • The general goal of the lore team is to preserve server aesthetics and lore. While this list may be long or complex, denying an item is not the end of the world.
    • It is entirely up to the lore team’s discretion what is, and isn’t allowed.
  • Custom potions
  • Air balloons/airships

What is allowed

The item must involve some kind of unique aspect (e.g. it has a small lighter on its hilt to ignite it when oiled, or it has a special material built into it that is particularly magical, or has other forms of unique value) for it to be lore-approved. All items with special effects must be lore-approved or rendered invalid or incapable of utilizing what is written on them.

While this list does not encompass everything allowed, it includes most items we have noticed are frequently asked about.

  • Medical supplies
    • Supply bags (e.g., medical bag with a suture kit, healing herbs, bandages, etc.)
    • Alcohol disinfectants, bandages, gauze, essential medical tools (e.g., scalpels, syringes, clamps, tweezers, scissors, forceps - tools that can be formed from current metals)
  • Weapons or gear (e.g., Katanas, rings, or other particular gear that isn't necessarily represented already)
  • Eyewear, clothing, or footwear (e.g., eyepatches, tunics, etc.)
  • Basic mechanical limbs that replace actual limbs
  • Custom armor with abilities
    • That is to say, we will be strict on this
S.III: Rules

Many people have been confused about a few things since the CRP expansion update. We finally made a consecutive decision to make a select few rulings become public, as we wish for item creation to be easier not only for the lore team but for players as well. Below are the following rulings.

*Disclaimer: This list is bound to change in the future.

  • One item per ticket.
  • Items that copy/modify the base abilities (by DMG) are prohibited.
    • For example, a weapon that modifies the ability to ‘Combo Attack’ from the dagger, swapping the reg. DMG to, for example, fire DMG.
  • Items that raise AC are not allowed.
  • You must be a T2 blacksmith to handle Tungsten and Titanium. You must be a T1 blacksmith to handle stainless steel and carbon steel. Thus, you can only handle bronze if you have not advanced your metallurgy knowledge.
  • Secondary abilities are not allowed. In addition, passive abilities are not allowed.
    • All abilities must cost either [1] AP or [1] SP, whether a reaction or action.
  • Crossbows/Composite bows that possess any ‘instant fire’ are not allowed as they are too similar to guns.
  • You must be attuned to the same element as the essence you are handling. For example, if an earth mage tries to imbue a weapon with air essence, they will find they cannot.
  • Any weapons that modify rolls in CRP are not allowed.
    • In addition, while this goes for mundane items, there may be special cases.
  • Vanilla weapons and armor are null in CRP and cannot be crafted. They are not soul-bound and have durability, requiring constant re-approval.
    • The only exceptions at the moment are crossbows.
  • Custom armor, whether made for pure cosmetics or CRP, is allowed.
  • Mundane items must still have some unique ability, e.g., a cloak imbued with fire essence that keeps the wearer warm at all times, even in harsh winters. Or a veil imbued with rain essence that makes it seem as if it’s always raining around the wearer. Get creative!
  • Lore items must be crafted and emoted out upon your arrival to Eldorath. You cannot have lore-approved items brought with you as you must emote the process out, as abilities become null and void upon traveling through the mists.
  • DEX saves have to make sense; if you lunge at someone, it wouldn’t make sense. It has to be something unavoidable.
  • You can make multiple of one item in a ticket as long as you have the materials.
S.IV: FAQ
  1.  What does “Lore Approved” mean?

The term “lore approved” can mean one of two things: the lore team recognizes your item; therefore, you can utilize it in (C)RP. And two, the item you hold is a significant item recognized in official lore.

  1. What do I do if I need to be made aware of whether something's allowed?

If you are unsure whether your item will be approved or denied, you are always welcome to open a general lore ticket.

  1. I have seen an influx of CRP-only items. Are non-CRP items allowed?

Absolutely!

  1. What if I have an item I want to improve or fix?

Unfortunately, when we approve an item in-game, we cannot remove the approval. Therefore, when we reach the end of the item approval process, please ensure you have everything double-checked.

  1. I have a catalog of items to be approved. How should I do this? Should I send them all at once?

While we cannot stop you from sending them at once, the step-by-step process of approving an item will be one at a time, meaning we go through the item’s ability, gather the emotes of creation, take the expended mats, and approve the item. This process is repeated for every item, so we ask people to go through one item at a time so as not to drown out the other items presented in the first message.

  1. Am I allowed to put DEX saves on my weapon(s)?

As it stands now, yes. However, DEX saves are only reserved for magic and two-handed weapons; receiving a DEX save on one-handed weapons will be for special occasions.

  1. What are the conditions under which an item can be taken away?

While rare, sometimes a lore team member may overlook a particular thing in an item that isn’t allowed per our rulings. Typically, when this mistake is made, you will be contacted privately by the lore team member about the error and informed of the routes that can be taken. Those consist of either the expended items being refunded or any wording being fixed in the item description.

  1. Can my armor have an ability?

While yes, your armor can have an ability, you must pick and choose one piece of armor to hold that ability, as you can only utilize one piece of armor in CRP.

  1.  Can I raise the AC on my armor, or have it harbor a stealth ability?

No. There must be a chance for someone to land a proper hit, even if you have raised your AC to 18. In addition, while not mechanical, realistically, armor is not silent and will never be quiet.

  1.  What can my armor have in terms of abilities?

Anything that follows our rulings is allowed! However, armor abilities are something we will be strict about.

  1. Can I create complex mechanical arm extensions or extra limbs that are not meant to replace existing ones? In addition, can we develop gliders, elytra, or wing braces?

Unfortunately, no. Complex mechanical arm extensions or extra limbs are too advanced for CRP use. Gliders, elytra, and wing braces are also not allowed on the server, so they will not be accepted.

  1.  Can I get a lore-approved faction book?

Unfortunately, no. If you want or need a lore-approved faction book, please open a general lore ticket.

  1. Can you soul-bind things for us?

When we lore-approve an item, it is automatically soul-bound. However, we cannot soul-bind mundane items that do not require lore approval.

S.V: CRP Implementation

If you want to use your item in CRP, follow these protocols and rules.

*Disclaimer: If the item has no clarifications on the stuff below or mentions that it works like some base equipment, it will work the same as the equipment it is based on or has mentioned.

All the things mentioned here need to be adequately added to the item description when making the item. If one of these things does not change from the base equipment used, do not add it to the item description.

  • Damage: The item's damage can be changed from its base equipment but must be comparable to that of one of the other base equipment.Z
  • Properties: An item's equipment properties can be changed, but they still need to be balanced and make sense in the context of the item being made.
  • Abilities: An item can be given a unique ability that requires an adrenaline point to be used. It must be comparable to the base equipment's ability and have a detailed explanation. Adding a new ability to a weapon will be taken under severe discretion. You can only have one ability per item.
  • Damage Type: An item's damage type can be changed from its base weapon to another; if the damage changes to one of the elemental types, it will need a pure essence of the specific element or one close to it as part of the ingredient list.
S.VI: Submitting Lore Items

There are many ways one can make a ticket! Players commonly ask whether a certain ability/item may be allowed; combining all the information in one would be ten times more useful for the lore team and you. Remember, do not send the emotes or create the item in the ticket until a lore team member has approved the idea.

Typically, when creating a ticket, the key information we ask you to include is the following:

  • IGN
  • What character is creating this item
  • The name of the item
  • Item description
  • Expended materials, or “mats”
    • Moving onwards to CRP-oriented information, include the information below:
      • Item property
      • Base DMG
      • Ability name
      • Ability DMG
      • Ability description: this should include to the T exactly what the ability is capable of

An example of such can be found below:

S.VII: Examples

Here are a few examples of altered equipment or equipment meant for CRP that can be referenced when making your own lore item!

*Disclaimer: The item will be instantly denied if these emotes or items are heavily plagiarized or copied to the T.

Example 1.

A blacksmith wants to make a katana. He opens a ticket and gets his idea approved. He then sends over a list of materials to use in-roleplay to make the item.

  • 10 stainless steel ingots for the blade
  • 10 leather for the handle
  • 10 oak wood for the scabbard

The lore-team member agrees to these materials. Then, the blacksmith gets to work in-rp making the item. The process should be at least this detailed:

The blacksmith sends over these screenshots in the ticket. He meets with the lore-team member in-game, hands over the materials, and gets his item lore-approved!

Example 2.

An earth mage has an idea to create a small gemstone imbued with earth essence connected to a chain. She opens a ticket and gets her idea approved. She then sends a list of materials she will use in-roleplay to make the item.

  • 10 advanced essence of terra for the ability
  • 10 yarrow for the twine
  • 5 stainless steel ingots for the jewelry

The lore-team member agrees to these materials. Then, the earth mage gets to work in-rp making the item. The process should be at least this detailed:

The earth mage sends over these screenshots in the ticket. She meets with the lore-team member in-game, hands over the materials, and gets her item lore-approved!

Example 3.

A wind mage comes up with an idea to create a Tungsten Carbide push dagger capable of dealing wind DMG. They open a ticket and get their idea approved. They then send a list of materials they will use in-roleplay to make the item.

  • 1 Pure Essence of Wind for the ability
  • 3 Tungsten Carbide Ingots for the blade
  • 1 Tool Handle for the thinner handle
  • 6 Spruce Planks for the “knuckle” handle
  • 3 Boiled Leather for the grip

The lore-team member agrees to these materials. Then, the wind mage gets to work in-rp making the item. The process should be at least this detailed:

The wind mage sends over these screenshots in the ticket. They meet with the lore-team member in-game, hand over the materials, and get their item lore-approved!
