When an event is being attended by many players, more often than not you may experience lag. This lag is caused by a number of factors, it could be lower end computers causing poor performance, or a bad internet connection. In some cases, the server itself may be lagging.

There are a few things you can do to minimize the lag you may encounter while participating in events.

If you use the mod Figura, we recommend setting up a key bind for "Panic Mode" which will allow you to toggle Figura avatars – a useful setting to toggle on and off during events.

Set up a key bind by doing the following:

1. Press ESC to open the pause menu.
2. Click the Figura Menu button.
3. At the top of the screen, click Settings (as seen in images below).
4. In the search bar, type "Panic Button" and set the key bind in the box next to the Reset button (as seen in images below).
5. Press ESC again to go back into the game.
6. Now use the Panic Button key you just binded to toggle Figura avatars during events.

There are several visual settings you can adjust to reduce lag. It's important to note that these settings may vary from person to person, depending on how powerful your computer is.

The recommended settings below are fit for lower end computers.

1. Press ESC to open the pause menu.
2. Click Options and then Video Settings.
3. At the top, click Quality to open the visual settings menu.
4. Change the various settings to match the ones below.
   1. Graphics > Fast
   2. Color Space > sRGB
   3. Clouds > OFF
   4. Cloud Distance > 2 chunks
   5. Weather > Default
   6. Leaves > Fast
   7. Particles > Decreased
   8. Smooth Lighting > Off
   9. Biome Blend > 1 block
   10. Entity Distance > 100%
   11. Entity Shadows > Off
   12. Vignette > Off
5. There are other settings in different menus that you can use as well:
   1. In General settings, set Max Framerate to Unlimited.
   2. In Performance settings, turn on Block Face Culling, Fog Occlusion, Entity Culling and Animate Only Visible Textures.

Recommended settings to change/lower/turn off:

• Graphics (Quality settings)
• Clouds (Quality settings)
• Weather (Quality settings)
• Leaves (Quality settings)
• Particles (Quality settings)
• Max Framerate (General Settings)
• Turn on Block Face Culling, Fog Occlusion, Entity Culling and Animate Only Visible Textures (Performance Settings)

Our official TallTalesRP Modpack already comes with a few optimization mods, such as Sodium and the EntityCulling mod. We recommend using these mods if you do not already.
