Prunella

  • These are small purple flowers that reach up towards the sun. Lots of big leaves.
  • Harvesting method:
    • Cut the flowering tops and dry them upside down in small bunches. Store these in a cool, dry, and dark location until ready to use.
  • Uses:
    • Crush up the flowering tops and add it to beeswax and coconut oil. This will make a cream for healing the skin.
    • Can be ingested for healing internal wounds.
  • Taste?
    • Bitter.

Lavender

  • These are tall spikes of purple flowers that also grow to the sun. Long stem, small leaves.
  • Harvesting method:
    • Cut and gather lots of lavender stalks into a bunch. Keep them in water until ready to use. Then, when ready, dry upside-down.
  • Uses:
    • Create a lavender oil by mixing lavender poultice with some coconut oil. Always dilute before applying to skin. This oil helps with reducing scars.
    • Can be made into tea for relaxation purposes.
  • Taste?
    • Tastes like rosemary, and a bit minty. Very nice.

Sage

  • These are small green leaves that feel surprisingly soft. Compared to the others, they are difficult to find.
  • Harvesting method:
    • Gently pick off the leaves along the stem. Be careful not to pull too hard.
  • Uses:
    • Put in tea, it can guard against diseases.
  • Taste?
    • Minty, but very tasty.

Feverfew

  • These are white flowers with a vibrant yellow center.
  • Harvesting method:
    • Swath the leaves and flowers while it is in full bloom. Both the leaves and the flowers can be used, either fresh or dried.
  • Uses:
    • As a medicinal tincture, it can be used to ease pain and fever. It also seems to treat headaches.
  • Taste?
    • Very bitter, and numbs your mouth and throat.

Pyrola

  • These are pink-ish bell-shaped flowers. They seem to “look down” as if they’re nodding. They typically grow on a very long stem.
  • Harvesting method:
    • Cut the leaves and roots and squeeze out their juices.
  • Uses:
    • The juice is used to stop bleeding, and can be either spread on the wound or drunk for internal bleeding.
  • Taste?
    • Bitter-sweet.

Yarrow

  • The flowers can come in all sorts of different colors, but mainly white and yellow. At the top of a long stem, lots of small flowers all huddle together in a flat cluster.
  • Harvesting method:
    • The flowers, leaves, and stems can be used to make poultices. It should be harvested right when it’s beginning to flower.
  • Uses:
    • Similar to pyrola, it can be used to stop bleeding. It can also relax muscles and soothe cramps. If prepared correctly, it can be used in dishes as a vegetable. Just be careful, as it is toxic in large amounts.
  • Taste?
    • Sweet with a bitter aftertaste.

Deadly Nightshade

  • These are purple flowers that surround large black berries. Do not eat these!
  • Harvesting method:
    • Cut the berries from the leaves. If you’re trying to dispose of them in your garden, the best way would be to pull it out before the berries turn to seed.
  • Uses:
    • Used to make poison. Also used to make pain cream IN MODERATION. Be very careful when applying this cream. Wash your hands afterwards.
    • If planning to use it for poisons, you only need to use a minuscule amount. Even that much can send full-grown adults into paralysis, cause severe hallucinations, delirium, confusion, convulsions, and death.
    • Symptoms, if poisoned, may begin within half an hour. It will take three to five days to kill you.
  • Taste?
    • I’ve heard that they are sickly-sweet.

Henbane

  • These are yellow-ish flowers with purple veins and lots of big leaves.

    • Can sometimes be used as an ointment, which invokes a “flying” feeling.
  • Taste?
    • I’ve heard it’s bitter and acrid. The odor is really revolting.
